Lausþyrpingar – Open clusters

Lausþyrpingar eru áhugaverð djúpfyrirbæri í sjónskoðun. Nokkrar sjást með berum augum en í sjónauka sjást margfalt fleiri. Fjöldi stjarna í þyrpingunum spannar frá tugum til þúsunda. Lausþyrpingar sem hér er sagt frá hafa verið viðfangsefni í ljósmælingum frá stjörnustöðinni í Nesjum.

Open clusters are amongst several visually interesting objects in the night sky. Few are naked-eye objects but optical aid multiplies their number. A typical cluster comprises a few tens to even thousands of individual stars.  The clusters commented on this page have been a subject of photometry from the Nes observatory.

NGC 7790 er lausþyrping í Kassíópeiu. “Sefítar” í þyrpingunni gera hana þýðingarmikla því ákvarða má fjarlægðir slíkra stjarna. Það reyndist hvatning til að meta fjarlægðina með 30 og 40 cm sjónaukum. Smelltu á hnappinn fyrir meira.

NGC 7790 is an open cluster in Cassiopeia. It hosts three cepheids which are significant because the distance to such stars can be determined. This was the motivation to try to estimate its distance, with a 30 and 40 cm telescope. Click the button for more (Icelandic only).

NGC 7654 (Messier 52) er lausþyrping í Kassíópeiu.  Árin 2017-2019 ljósmældi höfundur hana í BVR litsviðum, með 40 cm sjónauka, til þess að áætla fjarlægð hennar. Smelltu á hnappinn fyrir meira.

NGC 7654 is an open cluster located in Cassiopeia. The author imaged it with a 40 cm telescope by using BVR  filters,  in 2017-2019. The aim was to estimate its distance. Click the button for more.
